8th Convocation 2011
The 8th Convocation 2011, of Symbiosis International University held on December 3rd, 2011. It was the confluence of SIBM’s MBA, Executive MBA and Diploma students who successfully completed their respective degrees under the umbrella of Symbiosis International University (SIU).
The prestigious event held at the picturesque Lavale campus attracted top dignitaries from in and around Pune. The Chief Guest on this occasion was her excellency Smt. Pratibha Patil, “The Honorable President of India”. She awarded the degree certificates to the Gold Medal Winners and successful Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students. She said that universities must have an environment that is sympathetic to and supportive of innovations, which are useful to the lives of the people. She iterated the need to pursue research in the field of Solar Energy.
The highlight of the programme was the awarding of honorary Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.) to Prof. Bertil Anderson, President Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and Sundeep Waslekar, President, Strategic Foresight Group.
The occasion was graced by Padmabhushan Dr. S.B.Mujumdar Chancellor SIU, Dr. Bhushan Patwardhan, Vice Chancellor SIU, Dr. Vidya Yerwadkar Principal Director SIU, Dr. Vivek Sane Director SIBM and Deans & Directors from other Symbiosis Institutes.
