B-Quizzed @ SIBM 2011

B-Quizzed @ SIBM Pune is a National Level Business Quiz Competition conceptualized by the Aspirant Relations Team of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) Pune, aimed at all MBA aspirants to give them an opportunity to test their business acumen and also provide them with a glimpse of the Business World. This event was conducted for the second time in 2011 after being a grand success the previous year.

Phase 1: Preliminary Round

The Preliminary Round was conducted in two formats:

Online Prelims: The Online Prelims consisted of sessions conducted on five different days over the iAspire website (between August 15^th and 23^rd). The teams with best scores were selected for the final rounds.
Regional Prelims: The Regional Prelims was a live round at Pune on September 4^th 2011. Teams were pitted against each other in an on-stage event. A written preliminary round was conducted to eliminate some of the teams. The top two teams qualified for the Final Round.

Phase 2: Final Round

The Final Round was held at the Symbiosis Vishwabhavan Auditorium on the same day as the Regional Prelims. The top 8 teams chosen from the preliminaries (6 from online and 2 from regional) took part in this stage.

SLS Pune - "Quizzing for Nirvana"

The National Finals were conducted amongst the top 6 teams from the Online Prelims and the top 2 teams from the Pune Regionals. The winners of the National Finals are listed below:

1^st Runner-up – “You Just Got Googled” (Google India Pvt. Ltd.)
2^nd Runner-up – “Jugaad” (NIT Rourkela)

The stage rounds of both the prelims and the finals were conducted by Hari S Nair, MBA-I Marketing. The winners were awarded with prize money worth of Rs 70,000.

B-Quizzed @ SIBM 2010

B-Quizzed@SIBM is a National Level Business Quiz Competition conceptualized by Symbiosis Institute of Business Management Pune, aimed at all MBA aspirants to give them an opportunity to test their business acumen and also provide them with a glimpse of the Business World. Events are frequently conducted by the B-School students, for the B-School students, but this is the first time an event is being organized on a national scale for MBA aspirants. B-Quizzed@SIBM is an event for students pursuing their undergraduate studies across the country. The event was conducted under the auspices of the Aspirant Relations Team of the Students’ Council.

The quiz was conducted in two phases.
Phase I of B-Quizzed@SIBM 2010 was flagged off on the 15^th of August. The online prelims, which were conducted in 4 rounds, lasted until the 22^nd and saw participation from all over India, drawing some of the keenest undergraduate quizzers.
Candidates in teams of 3 participated in the quiz event. Each team could participate in any one or more prelims. After some fierce competition, the top 12 teams listed below were selected for the Phase II which comprised of the Semi-Finals and Finals which were conducted on the 5th of September, 2010 at the Lavale campus of SIBM Pune.

So, 12 eager teams of 3 members each arrived at Lavale on Teachers’ Day with an aim to be the first ever winners of B-Quizzed@SIBM and take home the handsome prize money!

Some teams were busy in last-minute preparations, while others were just soaking in the beautiful atmosphere around them. Nonetheless, everyone was tense and eager for the Semi-Finals to begin.

The semi-finals, conducted by our very own quizmasters, Hemanth Vasudevan and Vikram Keskar, students of MBA I at SIBM Pune, saw the 12 teams battling it out for the six positions in the Finals. Parallel Semis were conducted and resulted in the top 6 teams: COE Trivandrum, MSRIT Bangalore, NIT Rourkela, SLS Pune, SJCC Bangalore and NIT Warangal, making it to the Finals to be conducted in front of a live audience in the Auditorium.

After a scrumptious lunch, the excited finalists took their places on stage and finally, what we all had been waiting for - the Finals of B-Quizzed@SIBM 2010! It had been a long journey so far, and this was what it all came down to.

Fierce contest and cut-throat competition amongst the 6 finalist teams, along with some witty humor from our quizmaster, Vikram Keskar, ensured that the audience was left wanting more. After several round of quick-fire questions, and many turns of indefinite passing; after some really tough questions to crack, and a few simple sitters, the verdict was out – the winners of B-Quizzed@SIBM 2010 were declared.

Second runner’s up, winning Rs 5,000 as prize money, was Team SJCC from St. Joseph’s College, Bangalore, consisting of Sahir Khan, Mohit Jain and Shane Vaz.

At the first runner’s up position was Team Bizdudes from College of Engineering Trivandrum. This team had Unnikrishnan, Sudarshan and Anandkrishnan as its members. Rs. 10,000 was their reward for all their hard work.

And finally the winners of the first ever B-Quizzed@SIBM were: Team Quizzing for Nirvana from Symbiosis Law School Pune. Sachin Ravi, Raghav Chakravarthy and George Mathew stole the show, as well as the prize money of Rs. 15,000!

The finals concluded with the Director of SIBM Pune, Dr. Vivek Sane, addressing the audience as well as the participants present. Certificates and mementos were distributed to all the participants of Phase II. Dr. Sane gave the audience valuable insights into the field of management studies and also expounded on the importance of such events for the overall development of students. He congratulated all the teams on their brilliant efforts.

With the sun setting on beautiful Lavale, the curtains came down to a thunderous applause as the first-ever edition of B-Quizzed@SIBM had finally come to an end.
