iAspire 2014

iAspire is a national level business centric competition initiated by the Aspirant Relations Team of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune. It is an online competition wherein B-school aspirants work under the guidance of MBA students from SIBM Pune in an interactive format. It provides a unique opportunity for the aspirants to experience a simulated B-school environment, where they get to work on a series of management related tasks and a case study challenge.

iAspire began on 4th August 2014, with BizQuotient, a business quiz, which was conducted for the aspirants on iAspire’s Facebook page. BizQuotient was conducted over a period of 10 days, after which top 20-wild card entries were chosen based on their accuracy and promptness. Preliminary online aptitude tests, consisting of quantitative aptitude, verbal ability, logical reasoning and general knowledge questions was conducted between 13th and 19th August 2014 for the selection of the remaining 130 aspirants. The difficulty level of the aptitude test ranged from moderate to high and the pattern was on the lines of an MBA entrance exam. Out of 86,561 online reaches, 4,738 Facebook likes, 952 online registrations, 150 aspirants were selected to participate in the main event.


This year, different promotional activities were carried out for the main event. Event details were posted on online MBA forums like Career Anna, MBA Universe and PagalGuy. Manual promotions were carried out in the coaching centres and colleges in Pune and Mumbai. Posters and Director’s letter were sent to various coaching centres and colleges in cities across the country including Delhi, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Jaipur, Bhopal and Bhubaneswar.

The main event was a two day program conducted on the 21st and 22nd of August and involved activities modelled around the MBA classroom experience, including the case study challenge. The selected aspirants were assigned students from SIBM Pune as mentors who guided them throughout the duration of the event. The event was conducted on the iAspire official website. A chat module was developed for the interaction between participants and mentors from SIBM Pune, which also allowed the team to review the information exchanged. Apart from that, mentees also received some material related to the competition as well as to help them make decisions regarding their future career paths, some of which were:

The participants took part in online quizzes related to the fundamentals of business management along with a case study competition, the solution to which was submitted on 22nd August. The final 9 mentee winners and 3 mentor winners were chosen on the basis of their cumulative performance in the quizzes and the case study report. The result was declared on 4th September 2014.
